Purpose: Cover costs that cannot wait after an unexpected death

What the grant can pay:

• Funeral, burial, or cremation expenses

•  Companion-animal aftercare, cremation, or memorial costs

•  Immediate related costs: death certificates, basic travel for next of kin, modest time-off or household bridge support when the death created a cash emergency

Award size and pace:

•  Typical award: $500 – $2,500

•  Target decision: 5–10 business days after a complete file

•  Hardship documentation required
